No pains, no gains. は「苦しみなくて得るものはない」という意味です。

Slow and steady wins the race. は「ゆっくり着実にいけばレースに勝つ」という意味です。

Spare the rod and spoil the child. は「鞭を惜しむと子どもをダメにする」という意味です。「かわいい子には旅をさせよ」も子どもがかわいければ厳しい経験もさせなければならないという意味です。

The early bird catches the worm. は「早起きする鳥は虫を捕まえる」という意味です。

There is no royal road to learning. は直訳でも「学問への王道はない」という意味です。

Time flies. は「時は飛び去る」という意味です。Time flies like an arrow. 「時は矢のように飛び去る(光陰矢のごとし)」ということわざもありますが、Time flies. の方がよく使われています。

Too many cooks spoil the broth. は「料理人が多すぎるとスープをダメにしてしまう」という意味です。broth(ブロス)はなじみのない単語かもしれませんが、スープ(の汁)を表します。

Where there is a will, there is a way. は「意志のあるところに道がある」という意味です。強い精神があれば道は開ける、ということから「精神一到何事かならざらん」のことわざが当てはめられています。

A burnt child fears the fire. は直訳すれば「やけどをした子は火を怖がる」です。日本語のことわざで「羹懲りて膾を吹く」とされていますが、羹(あつもの)はお吸い物、膾(なます)は生肉の刺身のことです。

熱いお吸い物を飲んで「あつっ!」となった子どもが、お刺身までフーフーして食べている姿が思い浮かびます。
